Reembun is free. So what is the catch?
There is less of one than you might expect, because your own device does the work. With no servers processing files, the site costs little to run. Here is how it is paid for, what it records about visits, and what it genuinely cannot do.

Why free is realistic here
Most online file tools are expensive to run. Every PDF compressed or video converted means an upload, processing time on a server the operator pays for, and a download back. That is why they cap free use at a few files a day or a few hundred megabytes, and why the limits get tighter the more useful the tool is.
Reembun works the other way round. The tools run in your browser, on your own device’s processor. The site itself is a set of static pages and code, which is inexpensive to serve, and it costs almost nothing more when a thousand people compress a thousand PDFs than when one person does. So there is nothing to ration, and the limits you run into elsewhere simply do not exist here.
Who runs it
Reembun is built and operated by PT RHP Cipta Digital, a registered company in Indonesia. That matters for a site that asks you to trust it with your documents: there is a company behind it that is accountable for what it says, not an anonymous page.
How it is paid for
- Low running costs, for the reason above.
- Advertising, in future. The site does not currently show ads. When it does, they will stay out of every tool’s working area, the layout already reserves the space so nothing moves, and the privacy policy will be updated first.
- No selling of data. There is none to sell: no accounts, no email list, no files.
What it records about visits
The honest answer, as the privacy policy sets out:
- Page counts for everyone. A self-hosted analytics tool counts page views: the page, the referring site, an approximate country and the general device type. It sets no cookie, stores no identifier, and cannot follow you between visits.
- Google Analytics only if you agree. Nothing from Google loads until you accept optional cookies, and you can change your mind from the footer at any time.
- Nothing you put into a tool. Files, text you paste and figures you type into a calculator are handled in your browser and never sent.

What it genuinely cannot do
Running on your device has real limits, and it is better to know them up front:
- Very large files can fail on phones. A browser tab has a limited amount of memory, and phones have the least.
- Heavy video work is slow on weak devices. A server re-encodes a long 4K video faster than a phone can.
- Some jobs need a server. There is no PDF editing, no e-signatures, no PDF to Word conversion and no cloud storage here. Upload-based services do those well.
- The first use downloads an engine. The PDF, text recognition and video tools fetch their engines the first time, which can be several megabytes on a mobile connection.
- Offline needs one visit first. A tool works without a connection only after you have used it once online.
If one of those is a problem for what you need, use a service that does it, and for everything else, there is no reason for your files to leave your device.
Common questions
Do you sell data?
No. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have very little to sell in any case: there are no accounts, no email addresses, and your files never reach us.
Will there be ads?
The site does not show advertising today. We intend to introduce it, and the privacy policy says how: space is already reserved so nothing jumps around, ads will never appear inside a tool's working area, and the policy will be updated before any ad is served.
Will the tools stay free?
That is the plan, and the design is what makes it realistic. A tool that runs on your device costs almost nothing extra for each person who uses it, so there is no reason to ration them with daily limits or put them behind a subscription.
